Awesome Golf tips about putting

Now that the greens have recovered completely from the aerification June 3rd and 4th and are rolling beautifully, I’d like to give you a quick putting tip.

It is very rare that we have an actual “straight” putt in golf.  So many different extremities influence the roll of the ball on the putting green. The contour of the green, slope of the overall terrain, grain of the grass and wind are just a few too mention. This is why it is so important to learn how to properly read a putt.

The following are some key points to help develop the ability to read putts:

*Controlling the speed of your putts is very important.

*The quicker the ball is rolling, the less it will break

*The slower the ball is rolling, the more it will break

*Check the contours and assess the slopes and lie of the land

*Allow more break for downhill putts –because we exert less energy on the ball to roll down hill it will have a slower pace and will therefore have more break

*Allow less break for uphill putts – because we exert more energy on the ball to get it rolling up the hill it will have a much quicker pace and will therefore have less break

*Side slope putts are uphill on the first part of the putt and then downhill on the second part of the putt

*By building up a picture of the contours you will build up a picture of the line and pace you will need to hit the ball on for it to go in the hole

If 50% of the game of golf is putting, why don’t we spend more time practicing it!!!
